This ex-horse farm is a truly tranquil setting, consisting of huge paddocks, riverine ecology and pristine bushveld koppies. The Hakahana Trails Network traverses over 40 properties enabling a unique, safe and diverse riding experience, mostly on custom-built single track in pristine bushveld surrounds.
There is secure parking for up to 1200 cars, ablutions and refreshments, with post-ride eats available. We also have a small ‘spares’ shop that sells among other things Coolwear accessories.
Hakahana Trails is host to large events including the Nissan Trailseeker series, Monument DualX series, Jeep Warrior Race and Hakahana Enduro series. We also host smaller Trail Running and Corporate events.
While Hakahana is a super outing and biking experience for the family, Hakahana trails is particularly recommended for its challenging trails and technical terrain. Recently we have become the “Home” of Enduro in Gauteng and can soon boast 10 special Enduro stages.
Hakahana trail network consists of two primary disciplines; XC (Cross-country) and Enduro.
The XC network consists of 5 primary trails designed as individual loops of varying degrees of difficulty and distance, or can be strung-together to make longer rides, providing multiple options. There is total of 50km of trails with 1400m elevation. All trails are clearly marked by colour. The riding consists of mostly custom-built single track, game paths, dual track and the occasional district road linkages.
XC & Trail Running 5,5km/120m elevation
The Purple Route is 5,5Km of single track bliss in bushveld surrounds. It is a technical trail for both XC and Trail Running and uses some of our best trails. Secure within Hakahana perimeter. Excellent training track.
“Kids” 1,5km/20m elevation
The Yellow Route is a true beginner’s trail, manageable even for the really little ones! It is well maintained, rides in a bit of shade, is mostly downhill and loops back along the river road to the Trailhead.
“Hakahana” 4km/60m elevation
The Green Route is a relatively easy 4km loop. It is a fun, free-flowing trail up to the koppies and down the donga to the river. It includes a few small climbs but is rideable by all skill-levels. Pristine Bushveld setting. Secure within Hakahana perimeter.
“District” 18km/300m elevation
The Blue Route is the “anchor trail” and the link to other trails in the network. It is a fun, easy-tempo ride around the valley, between farms, along dirt roads and the river. There are a few challenging sections that make it harder than the 19km suggests. The apex of the ride takes riders into a pristine bushveld kloof before the gentle road downhill.
“Rinkhals” (white on map) 8km/270m elevation
The Black Route has two parts. A (8Km/260m) and B (5Km/200m). Both are tough trails for the advanced rider. Follow Blue for 7,4Km until it splits to the left, it continues west for a while before the first of many climbs.
“Kloof & Moot” 21km/480m elevation
The Red Route has two parts. A (3Km/130m) and B (5Km/220m). It’s a tough and challenging trail for the advanced and well preared rider. The Red Route splits off from the Blue Route after approximately 12,5Km.
The Enduro network comprises 9 special stages. (SP 1-9). Orange markers are used for all the Enduro stages and grey is used for all Enduro climbs back to Apex.
“Enduro Up to Apex”
Grey markers are used for all the Enduro climbs back to Apex.
